Beautifully landscaped outdoor areas, Proximity to trails and nature walks, Various dining settings

The heating in our room left something to be desired, as did the excessive noise from the pub. Management should consider adjusting the checkout process for more clarity!!! the accessibility features for disabled guests require significant enhancement!!!

    delicious food

Couple looking for a solid retreat

Had the chance to enjoy a lovely meal downstairs. The food was top notch, even with the limited menu due to staff shortages. Plus, every staff member we met was genuinely friendly, made us feel right at home.

A bit pricey but not too bad considering the quality.

We had a lovely family dinner with friendly service, and I appreciated the dog biscuits on the table as a sweet touch. with Sizergh Castle only less than 3 km away, we could easily enjoy both the history of the area and the beautiful walks without much hassle.

    friendly staff
    spacious room
    delicious meals
    outdoor room access

We enjoyed some amazing family fun at a nearby festival village, packed with activities and yummy food. The staff were friendly, and our meals were delicious, especially the evening dishes! our room was spacious and had everything we needed for our stay.

My kids wished the entrance to the rooms was indoors, especially since it rained during our visit. A little more signage for family-friendly options would help us navigate better.

    Charming atmosphere with dog-friendly vibe

I had a lovely stay at this establishment! The environment was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly accommodating, especially towards our furry friend. The location is perfect for pet owners, with plenty of local trails for walks. during check-out, we were not given a receipt for our payment, which left us a bit frustrated.

    lack of cleanliness

The Wheatsheaf provided a fantastic dining experience with excellent food. The king prawns with black pudding and confit of chicken were superb. The local fillet of beef was cooked to perfection, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. the dog-friendly atmosphere was a great bonus for our furry companion, and the staff were attentive and made us feel welcome.

The room was dusty and lacked basic cleanliness.

Had a blast with friends! We enjoyed the festival village, packed with fun activities and great food. Also took a thrilling excursion with Mountain Goat for canyoning. The atmosphere was lively, and the place is dog friendly, which was a bonus for our furry friend.

It was just a good pick for a city break in Kendal with reasonable value. The breakfast had full choice and was delicious too! Be aware of possible noise from the pub below if you're a light sleeper.

    complimentary upgrade
    nice and warm
    cozy feel
    too soft mattress
    small ensuite

The room was nice and warm after we turned the radiator on. It was lovely that we got a complimentary upgrade to a king-size bed, but the bed was too soft for us and had two mattresses pushed together, which left a gap in the middle. The ensuite was pretty small and didn’t have a bath, which was a bit of a letdown. the room had a cozy feel, but the comfort wasn't stellar due to the mattress situation.
